The Uganda’s National Netball team, She Cranes and Uganda Netball Federation officials paid a courtesy visit to Plascon Uganda head office in Namanve industrial area.
The main purpose of the visit that happened on Tuesday afternoon was to say thank you for the great support the Paint Manufacturing company has rendered to the team as they are getting ready for commonwealth games.
For starters, Plascon Uganda is among the two current partners of the She Cranes but their current sponsorship deal that came in May this year was targeting the commonwealth preparations and regional tours that climaxing on Friday with Kampala Region were part of the deal.
While speaking to this website after hosting the She Cranes at his company, the Kansai Plascon Managing Director Santosh Gumte revealed that they are committed to Sports in Uganda and their relationship with the She Cranes even after the commonwealth games, will continue because they do still have other engagements.
“The sponsorship was basically for commonwealth games but they also have other engagements, the world cup coming up as well. And As Kansai Plascon have commitment with sports, we have started this commitment with netball team and we intend to continue this further. ” Confirmed Plascon Managing Director.
The Uganda Netball federation president, Hon. Babirye Kityo Sarah also asserted the reason as to why they visited Plascon.
“We unveiled plascon to the world that is our sponsor, visiting them meaning that we treasure them, they gave us the support they could even when we approached them in the middle of the financial year but because of their great heart, they gave us the money that helped us to move the activities of the team, so we decided to give them this day to show them that we appreciate of what they are doing for us, nothing we can give back apart from loving them. ” Said President.
” We are going to do this with our other partners, like GoTv, we wrote to them and waiting for the date they will schedule for us.” She added.
The She Cranes toured all the departments and saw how paint is made, assembled and packed, and thy took part in the factory activities to create a bond between them and the Plascon staff.
Joan Nampungu, the She Cranes assistant captain, asserted that it was a great pleasure for them to visit plascon the partners who financed their regional tours.
“Today we visited our partners, Plascon to say thank you for the support they rendered to us towards our preparations for commonwealth and the regional tours we have had. We also toured the factory, viewed how paint is done, we also took part in assembling and it has been a great moment for the girls. So I request even other companies to join and support the girl child. ” Joan Nampungu.
She Cranes will resume training on Wednesday at Kamwokya Community Sports Centre and they are to enter residential training next week.
